Watson Civil Construction, Inc. is a leading heavy/highway contractor operating throughout Florida, specializing in large site infrastructure, underground, and road work. We are currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Jr. Accountant to join our dynamic team. The Jr. Accountant will play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of the company and ensuring accurate accounting practices are maintained.

Responsibilities:

• Manage subcontractor billings, ensuring proper coding including certificates of insurance, etc.
• Work on lien waiver requests and track lien notices to owners.
• Assist in tracking notice to owners.
• Work on accounts payable specifically, reconciling credit card statements.
• Collaborate closely with the Controller and Assistant Controller to provide regular updates on project status, costs, and any changes.
• Assist in the development, implementation, and enhancement of budgets, policies, and department controls to improve accuracy and efficiency.
• Create and manage spreadsheets, budgets, and reports across various software applications.
• Support in the management of equipment costs, ensuring accurate and timely entry of costs and coding.
• Work closely with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and other departments as necessary.
• Aid in the preparation of financial reports, including reconciliation of job costs to the general ledger and other month and year-end procedures.
• Collaborate with accounting staff on invoice and pay application coding.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred.
• Previous experience in construction accounting is advantageous.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel). Familiarity with Spectrum software is a plus.
• Exceptional organizational skills with a proactive approach to anticipating business needs.
• Self-motivated individual with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Capable of working with minimal supervision, demonstrating the initiative to enhance systems and determine the best approach for new assignments or projects.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
